Summary
LungType is an app that turns speech into text on your device. We do not run servers that receive your audio, transcripts or dictations. The app has no analytics, telemetry or advertising.
What stays on your device

- Transcripts, cleaned-up text and your history
- Your dictionary, snippets and style settings
- Speech and cleanup models
To fit spacing and punctuation, LungType may read the text around your cursor in memory. It is not saved.
What goes over the internet
The app connects to the internet only for:
- License checks (Pro and Max): your license key and a device name are sent to the Lemon Squeezy license API, about once every 7 days.
- Update checks: the app downloads lungtype.com/appcast.xml. Our hosting provider sees an ordinary web request, including your IP address and app version.
- Model downloads: models are downloaded from Hugging Face during setup, or when you turn on an optional model.
Settings › Privacy shows these requests for the current week.
Features that send text when you use them
- Command Mode sends the selected text and your spoken instruction, as text, to Anthropic (Claude). If Claude Code is installed, it goes through the
claudecommand line tool with your own Claude account; otherwise it uses your own Anthropic API key, which is stored in your device’s keychain. Anthropic’s privacy policy applies. - AI memory (MCP): when an AI app you connected, such as Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT desktop, calls LungType, the meeting text it asks for is passed to that app and its provider. Dictations are shared only if you turn that on. Snippet values are never shared.
Purchases
Lemon Squeezy sells LungType as our reseller (merchant of record). When you buy, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment details and email address under its own privacy policy, and shares with us the order details we need to support you, such as your email address and license key.
This website
lungtype.com has no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. Your theme and color choices are kept in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to us. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs.
Your rights
Your content is on your device, so you can view, export or delete it in the app at any time. For purchase data, contact us and we will help with access, correction or deletion requests, including those under the GDPR and Turkey’s KVKK.
